Heather has been happily married to her husband of 19 years and they have two sons.  In her spare time she is an active member of the church choir, youth Sunday school teacher, and a vacation bible school instructor. She enjoys reading, eating out at new places, Bunco, watching her son’s sporting events, involvement in Boy Scouts, and entertaining her friends and family, active participation in her local school districts teacher organization, as well as traveling.

Since 1990, Heather has developed a career centered around the health and wellbeing of children. She began her career as a direct care provider for individuals at a state school in north Texas, and later as a case worker for Child Protective Services, as well as Adult Probation of Denton County.  Upon graduation from the University of North Texas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation, Social Work and Addictions, she began working in Case Management with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metropolitan Dallas. In 1997 she transitioned into the education field, acquiring a Texas Teachers Certificate in Special Education Pre-K through 12,  and English Language Arts/& Reading 8th through 12th grade.  She is currently a Special Education teacher, specializing in students with Learning and Other Health Impairment Disabilities at a prestigious high school in Austin, Texas.  In this position, she has had the ability to impact student’s lives directly through mentoring and teaching a variety of courses.  She has spent 15 years educating at risk youth. Heather has received training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Texas Teacher’s License, and CPR & First Aid.  Heather has been awarded Who’s Who Among American Teacher’s in 1998 and 2000.
